….that they should know you, the only true God…Lord Yeshua Christ
One of the scribes had been listening that day. He was hearing the responses from the Teacher. The teacher that had the whole region divided. There were murmurings about him, that he was truly awaited prophet, others were saying that this was “the Christ”, and those in the establishment that “this man was not from God.”
All the sides of the religious establishment had joined together that day. They were going to attempt to catch this man in something that he might say. They began. One after another would ask their question and the teacher would answer. With every question came an answer that they could not refute. This scribe who at once may have been skeptical was becoming less hostile. He needed to know once and for all if this was a true teacher. He asked Yeshua, which commandment is the most important of them all?
Yeshua answered, “The greatest is, ‘Listen, Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one: you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ Second, this; ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandments greater than these.”
The scribe responded, “Right, Teacher. You have spoken according to the truth that He (God) is One, and that there is not another besides him.” Yeshua was a true teacher the scribed realized. What made him a true teacher, he taught that the Lord the God of Israel was one and there is none other besides him. All that the scribe knew to be true and had committed his life to were in agreement with Yeshua. Yeshua even responds to this friendly scribe that he was not far from the kingdom of God.
What did the scribe get right? That he had knowledge of the only true God! It’s devastating that modern day Christianity starts off by rejecting the very teaching of its founder. Yeshua taught God is one. “You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord.’ You say so correctly, for so I am.” Yeshua is our teacher, but we disregard his teaching. James states that we would do well if we believe God was one, that the demons believe this and shudder. Do we?
No, we’ve created our own philosophy after the tradition of men, after the elements of the world, and not after Christ. Paul informs us that it’s not that we didn’t receive the truth, but that we didn’t receive the love of the truth, that we might be saved. Because of this lack of love for the truth, God has sent upon us deluding influences that we would believe what is false, which we have.
So, we have a choice, to continue to teach the delusions of men, or to stand firm and hold on to the traditions which were taught by the apostles who taught the teaching of Yeshua, who taught the words of God the Father.
There is one God.
The one God, is the only God.
The only God is God alone.
There is no other God but the one God.
The one and only God is the God of Yeshua
Yeshua has a God,
And his God, is God alone!
